Welcome!

Here are video clips about Braining for those of you who are generally curious, for those of you who are patients who will soon try your first session, and for those of you as employees at a psychiatric clinic who will implement Braining.

The first few clips are primarily aimed at you as a patient. At the bottom are some clips that are more aimed at healthcare professionals, but everyone is of course welcome to watch all the clips!

The films feature staff from the Braining Team at Psychiatry Southwest, while other staff at the clinic "play" patients.

What is Brainstorming?

Åsa Anger, specialist in psychiatry and Braining leader at Psykiatri Sydväst, talks about theory and experiences of physical activity as an additional treatment in specialist psychiatry. The lecture is about 15 minutes long.

Motivation

Motivation work is central to Braining. The start and end, as well as all individual assessments, are excellent opportunities to capture and work on motivation.

We work in a motivating way by:

  1. We set clear goals and interim goals based on the patient's circumstances and regularly follow up and evaluate how things are going.

  2. In all contacts with the patient, we confirm and reinforce their exercise treatment.

  3. We train in a group, together.

Individual reconciliation

Before each session, a short conversation is held where the patients who will participate meet the Braining Leader or Braining Host. Such a conversation can also be held by telephone. The focus of the consultation is:

  1. Assessment of physical and psychiatric daily condition to see if the patient can exercise or if other healthcare interventions are needed.

  2. Motivate the patient to Braining by confirming that they have arrived and by following up on previously set goals.

  3. Answer questions and offer individualized training.

Here we see Kerstin, a nurse and Braining leader, in an individual consultation with a patient.

If something happens...

  1. The Braining valuer notices that a patient is feeling unwell and assesses that it is a serious incident. The session is interrupted!

  2. Braining host and leader alert emergency care and take action according to A-CPR.

  3. Brainstorming host and leader check in with other participants.

  4. The Braining leader or host makes a deviation report and informs the Braining team's doctor.

In the event of a less serious incident, such as a patient spraining their foot or having an anxiety attack, the Braining teacher looks at the patient inside the room and the session can continue for the other participants.

The role of the therapist
